Maths Week 2025: What's the Word on Math?
This week, our school proudly celebrated Maths Week 2025 under the exciting theme “What’s the Word on Math?” — a celebration of the rich and fascinating language of mathematics!
Throughout the week, children across all year groups explored how we use words to describe numbers, patterns, shapes, and problem-solving. From math vocabulary bingo to outdoor shape trails, pupils engaged in a wide variety of fun and educational activities that brought mathematical language to life.
Indoors, classrooms buzzed with word-based math games, storytelling with numbers, and collaborative challenges that encouraged children to explain their thinking using precise mathematical terms. Outdoors, pupils took part in interactive tasks that combined movement, teamwork, and maths talk — proving that maths isn’t just about numbers, it’s about communication too!
To round off the week, our Key Stage 2 pupils attended a fantastic Maths Workshop at Holy Cross College, where they worked alongside other schools and college staff to solve puzzles, explore new concepts, and deepen their understanding of mathematical language in a hands-on, inspiring environment.
A huge thank you to all the staff, students, and families who helped make Maths Week 2025 a memorable celebration of learning.
